November 12th, 2008Don’t forget Operation Gratitude
November 11th, 2008You can help our military right now.

It has been quite a while but I thought I would update you on the soldier whose life was saved by an Operation Gratitude care package. His work attitude and leadership skills have so improved that he has since been promoted to Sergeant and is currently a squad leader and “one of the best” in the platoon he is assigned to, I am told by his platoon sergeant. He has a steady girlfriend and just recently re-enlisted.
If you had taken this soldier over a year ago and put him next to the soldier he has become you would swear it was two different people. And it was all due to a care package sent to a soldier by good people back in the states that he had never met before. Please let everybody there know.
As for me, I am leaving the service. Unfortunately, I had a run in with an IED that has ended my military career and left me pretty banged and burned up. I have been in recovery and had a few reconstructive surgeries over the last months. I only have three days left in service.
Please continue helping those still over there and going over there. I know we are old news and a lot of folks back home are tired of the news there, but it is important that we not forget those who still serve. We have to remember and support them “until everyone comes home.”
Take care and you once sent me an address where I could mail contributions. Could you send it again? I have lost it along with all my belongings and papers from Iraq. Take care and God bless. SFC (for another 72 hours) J.S.
A Checklist Of Obama’s Many Promises
November 11th, 2008The list is long, expensive and filled with old ideas history has shown us don’t work. Here’s a sample on Taxes, but make sure you click on the link to read them all.
Taxes
• Give a tax break to 95% of Americans.
• Restore Clinton-era tax rates on top income earners.
• “If you make under $250,000, you will not see your taxes increase by a single dime. Not your income taxes, not your payroll taxes, not your capital gains taxes. Nothing.”
• Dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes.
• Give American businesses a $3,000 tax credit for every job they create in the U.S.
• Eliminate capital gains taxes for small business and startup companies.
• Eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000.
• Expand the child and dependent care tax credit.
• Expand the earned income tax credit.
• Create a universal mortgage credit.
• Create a small business health tax credit.
• Provide a $500 “make work pay” tax credit to small businesses.
• Provide a $1,000 emergency energy rebate to families.
Jamie “the wall” Gorelick for Obama’s AG?!
November 11th, 2008Wow this can’t be happening. Obama is seriously considering Gorelick for AG? Even the New York Times grudgingly mentions her baggage:
Used to work as: Vice chairwoman at Fannie Mae, the giant mortgage lender, where she was paid a reported $25.6 million in salary and other compensation from 1998 to 2003…
Carries as baggage: Her work at Fannie Mae, which had to be bailed out by the government in September as part of a $200 billion deal. Ms. Gorelick left the company just as it was coming under attack for huge accounting failures.
She has also drawn criticism for her role at the Justice Department, in which she allegedly created an intelligence “wall” that hindered counterterrorism agents in the years before the Sept. 11 attacks.
Allegedly? ALLEGEDLY?! She helped create the wall that hurt this country’s ability to stop attacks like the one on 9-11! She was Reno’s number 2 during the Waco disaster. She was part of the revolving door from government to Fannie Mae. She made what Dems usually call “obscene profits” while FM was using Enron accounting and getting us into this huge mess we’re in now.
The only good news is she says she doesn’t want the job. Stay tuned.
Melissa Etheridge Says Gay People Shouldn’t Pay Their Taxes
November 10th, 2008

Is this a convincing argument? If you disagree with what democracy spits out, do you have the right to simply not pay your taxes? Here’s Melissa Etheridge on the gay marriage ban in California:
Alright then. So my wife, uh I mean, roommate? Girlfriend? Special lady friend? You are gonna have to help me here because I am not sure what to call her now. Anyways, she and I are not allowed the same right under the state constitution as any other citizen. Okay, so I am taking that to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes because I am not a full citizen. I mean that would just be wrong, to make someone pay taxes and not give them the same rights, sounds sort of like that taxation without representation thing from the history books.

An interesting letter from a black, female, former Harvard professor to America upon the election of Barack Obama:
I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival – all that I know about the history of the United States of America, all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the “change” that Obama asserts has come to America. Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century.
Swing Voters Don’t Want Big Government
November 6th, 2008This is a very important lesson for conservatives
A poll commissioned by the Club for Growth in 12 swing congressional districts over the past weekend shows that the voters who made the difference in this election still prefer less government — lower taxes, less spending and less regulation — to Sen. Obama’s economic liberalism. Turns out, Americans didn’t vote for Mr. Obama and Democratic congressional candidates because they support their redistributionist agenda, but because they are fed up with the Republican politicians in office. This was a classic “throw the bums out” election, rather than an embrace of the policy views of those who will replace them.
This election should be a wake-up call for Republicans and conservatives to get back to their true beliefs. The Republicans deserve to lose. They came to power preaching smaller government and less spending. They ended up increasing the size of government more than Bill Clinton did. They spent more time and money trying to stay in power than they did ruling the way they told us they would.
Conservatives need a new Contract with America. Bold new ideas like a flat tax or a national sales tax. Bold plans on how to save Social Security and Medicare by privatizing them at least partially. Scaling back federal government to what is actually permitted by the United States Constitution. It won’t be easy. I don’t think a single founding father could be elected today because the country is moved too far to the left. But the core conservative principles ring true with most Americans. If the concepts are explained rationally and emotionally they win.
