MySpace lecture generates outrage
Thursday, August 21st, 2008It looks like this officer was trying to warn students about the dangers of what they put on their my space pages. That’s admirable, but he absolutely crossed the line in the way he humiliated these children.
Students and parents at Windsor High School are outraged after a Wyoming police officer doing a presentation on Internet safety scrutinized individual students’ MySpace pages, calling the students’ pictures “slutty” and saying their sites invited sexual predators.
“He told the entire student body that he had shared her info with a sexual predator in prison,” said Ty Nordic, whose daughter Shaylah Nordic’s MySpace page was put on display.
Shaylah Nordic said Gay told the student body that the predator said he would masturbate to her picture and then “tear her apart.”
Dude, that is totally out of control. The children are minors. The officer could have made his point without using this type of degrading technique. If he did this to my daughters, I would be extremely upset. Exit question: what kind of discipline, should this police officer get?
