No bike helmet? Lose your wheels

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Is this a joke? Are they really going to seize your bike because you don’t wear a helmet?

“If you’re young and ride a bicycle through town without a helmet, you may end up walking back home. Police here are looking for scofflaws and will snatch the pedals from your feet if you’ve been warned numerous times but still forgo headgear.”

I understand the saftey reasons here. My two daughters wear a helmet when they ride their bikes. But, that’s my job as a father, not the government’s. I’m so tired of the government telling us what to do. How did our children survive before Nanny government came along?

MySpace lecture generates outrage

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

It looks like this officer was trying to warn students about the dangers of what they put on their my space pages.  That’s admirable, but he absolutely crossed the line in the way he humiliated these children.

Students and parents at Windsor High School are outraged after a Wyoming police officer doing a presentation on Internet safety scrutinized individual students’ MySpace pages, calling the students’ pictures “slutty” and saying their sites invited sexual predators.

“He told the entire student body that he had shared her info with a sexual predator in prison,” said Ty Nordic, whose daughter Shaylah Nordic’s MySpace page was put on display.

Shaylah Nordic said Gay told the student body that the predator said he would masturbate to her picture and then “tear her apart.”

Dude, that is totally out of control.  The children are minors.  The officer could have made his point without using this type of degrading technique.  If he did this to my daughters, I would be extremely upset.  Exit question: what kind of discipline, should this police officer get?
