Did Obama Call Palin a Pig?

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Is this sexism on Obama’s part, or is the McCain campaign reaching? The Obama campaign points out that McCain used the same ‘common” analogy to criticize Hillary Clinton’s health care plan.

“Enough is enough,” Obama senior adviser Anita Dunn said in a statement e-mailed to reporters

“The McCain campaign’s attack tonight is a pathetic attempt to play the gender card about the use of a common analogy - the same analogy that Senator McCain himself used about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care plan just last year,” she continued. “This phony lecture on gender sensitivity is the height of cynicism and lays bare the increasingly dishonorable campaign John McCain has chosen to run.”

McCain’s criticism:

McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health-care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s plan, he said it was “eerily reminiscent” of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the 1990s.

“I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said of her proposal.

Is McCain’s criticsm different from Obama’s? If so, why?

‘Provocative’ Clinton angers Iran

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Hillary did kind of sound like a “cowboy” on Iran the other day.

The Democratic presidential hopeful said last week the US could “totally obliterate” Iran if it attacked Israel.

“If I’m the president, we will attack Iran… we would be able to totally obliterate them.”

Next thing you know, she’ll be saying, “Bring it on!” Iran is angry, strong letter to follow:

In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Mehdi Danesh-Yazdi, Iran’s deputy ambassador to the UN, said Mrs Clinton had “unwarrantedly and under erroneous and false pretexts threatened to use force against the Islamic Republic of Iran”.

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Kung-fu action hero Jackie Chan has warned anyone planning to stop him carrying the Olympic Torch he will come out fighting.

The Hong Kong hardman, whose films include Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon, is due to carry the torch when it nears Beijing, the venue for this summer’s Olympic Games.

The Torch Relay’s journey through Europe and North America has seen it become a magnet for protestors angry at China’s human rights record and the clampdown in Tibet.

However, Chan insists anyone trying to protest on his watch can expect short shrift, warning: ‘Demonstrators better not get anywhere near me.’

Olympic torch relay could be ended if further disruption occurs

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

China should never have gotten the Olympics. It’s human rights violations are too numerous to ignore. If the IOC had a backbone it would cancel the torch relay now and say it is doing so to protest China’s treatment of it’s people and the people of Tibet. Bush should boycott the opening ceremonies and meet with China dissidents instead.
